Aloha United Soccer Club (AUSC) is optimistic that we will be able to restart recreational soccer activities in the Spring.

For our Pre-K through 1st Grade kids, we are confident that we have secured the field space necessary to host our “Micros” or “Kick and Chase” program this spring. For our Pre-K through Grade 1 aged kids, we will be offering a weekday practice and Saturday scrimmage between March 29th and May 22nd. This will be a 2 times per week, 8-week session. All practices and scrimmages will be at Winkelman Park (10139 SW 175th Ave &, SW Gloss Rd, Beaverton, OR 97007). Registration fees will remain at only $65 per child. To register, click here!

We will be strictly following the OHSU and THPRD guidelines for outdoor activities. Thus, all players and coaches will be required to wear face coverings. Additionally, no parents will be allowed at the field during practices or scrimmages. The one exception is if you are registered as a volunteer coach. Volunteer coaches that complete the registration process will be allowed on the field with the kids and help us run our organized activities.

Interested in Volunteering? We are always looking for parents, older siblings, family members and friends from the community that are looking for great ways to give back to help our youngest athletes have a positive sports experience. No previous experience necessary. AUSC will reimburse all volunteer coaches for the “4v4 Online Course ($25) and encourage all coaches to also take the free “Introduction to Grassroots Coaching” offered by US Soccer. Details on how to volunteer can be found at https://www.alohaunited.com/coaches/. Volunteer coaches can register here!

For our Grade 02 through Grade 08 kids, we are optimistic that we will also be able to get the kids back on the field this spring. However, field availability is our biggest constraint on being able to guarantee a “season” like we’ve typically had. All the clubs in the Tualatin Hills Junior Soccer League are working together to try and offer a safe and equitable experience for the kids of the Beaverton School District. More details will follow as we learn more from THPRD, Beaverton School District and OHA and OYSA about field availability and options for a spring season. Due to the uncertainty of what a season may entail, we are opening up Registration on January 4th – but not collecting any money. The registration will allow us to assess the demand (i.e., number of kids/teams interested in playing) and allow us to coordinate with the other clubs to determine what options we have. Cost of spring is still TBD, but will not exceed $95. A shortened or abbreviated season (less than 8 weeks) will result in a reduced fee. To Register click Here!

“Typically” a spring season for Grade 02-08 would include:

Grade 02: Teams of 6-8 players that play 4v4 with 4-ft popup nets. Games are played using 10-minute quarters.

Grade 03 & 04: Teams of 10 – 12 players that play 7v7. Goalies are first introduced at this level. Games are played using two 25-minute halves.

Grade 05 & 06: Teams of 13 – 16 players that play 9v9. Games are played using two 30-minute halves.

Grade 07 & 08: Teams of 16-18 players that play 11v11. Games are played using two 35-minute halves.

While these continue to be trying times, AUSC continues to believe that having children participate in safe and responsible sports activities remains extremely important. Should you have any questions or concerns, then please feel free to send me a note at president.rec@alohaunited.com.

Happy New Year!

Jeff Lang – AUSC Rec President and Micros Coordinator
